Protecting your electrical system starts with choosing the right fuse, circuit breaker, and distribution hardware. From high-current battery banks and inverters to smaller 12V appliances, these components help manage power safely and protect your wiring from overloads and faults. Below are the products I recommend for building a reliable off-grid or vehicle electrical system.

01
Take the continuous wattage rating on a device and divide it by the voltage it operates at (12/24/48V)
02
Let’s imagine that you have a 1500W 12V inverter. Take the wattage rating and divide it by the voltage to find the maximum current:
1500(W)/ 12(V) = 125 (Amps)
03
Next, take the maximum current (125Amps in this situation) and multiple it by 1.25:
125 (Amps) X 1.25 = 156.25 (Fuse Size)
04
You need a fuse that can trip at 156.25A. But they only make 150A and 200A fuses. So what you will need to do is round up to 175 or 200A fuse or breaker.
05
Be sure to use a wire that can handle 200A, so if a fault or overload were to occur, the cables can carry 200A to the fuse to trip it.
Now these are cool! Unmatched price and performance:
You can use this to connect batteries together, inverters to a bus bar or even a solar charge controller to a system. Just ensure that the cables you connect to it are large enough to trip it. Use whatever the manual recommends.
